The digital tachometer feedback is a low cost solution to determine the position of the motor by using only a single digital input. This kind of feedback is based on an optical barrier that produces a fixed amount of pulses for mechanical revolution.
The direction of the movement is estimated based only on the demanded movement, for that reason, it is not considered a robust feedback.
