Firmware update through EtherCAT (Embedded FoE)

This article describes how to update the drive firmware through EtherCAT using the Embedded FoE bootloader in MotionLab3.

Loading firmware with the drive connected

For instructions on how to connect to the drive, see Connect through EtherCAT using the EoE Service .

  1. Navigate to "Tools" → “Load Firmware“ → "FoE Bootloader".

  2. Once the Bootloader window opens, select the firmware file to be loaded (.sfu is for EVE and .lfu for the rest of the drives, including EVS). Firmware files are available in the Downloads section of each product.

Remember that for Safe drives a custom password has to be set.

  1. Click on "Load Firmware" to start the update. 

  2. Once the process finishes, a success message confirms that the drive's firmware has been successfully updated.

  1. Navigate to "Tools" → “Load Firmware“ → "FoE Bootloader".

  2. Select the appropriate network adapter and slave.

  3. Click on "Browse" to select the firmware file to be loaded (.sfu is for EVE and .lfu for the rest of the drives, including EVS). Firmware files are available in the Downloads section of each product.

  1. Click on "Load Firmware" to start the update.
