Changing MAC address

This section describes the methodology to be followed to change the Ethernet network parameters of a Summit device.

Summit devices are delivered with the same MAC address by default, 49:4E:47:03:02:01. Therefore it is required to change the network parameters when there is more than one device with the same MAC address in the same network.

Every device in the Ethernet network must have a unique MAC address. Check the reserved addresses before setting a new one.

MAC address is configurable through the MAC address. The steps required to apply the setting are:

1. Connect the Summit device point to point to the PC (or master).
2. Open Motionlab and connect to the Summit device.
3. Set the new MAC address
4. Store the communication configuration using the Store all register.
5. Power cycle the drive.
6. The drive will boot up with the new MAC address.
