"No movement detected" during Encoder test

Issue: In MotionLab3, when carrying out the Encoder test regardless of the type of encoder (Digital Halls, Absolute encoder, Incremental Encoder), the following issue occurs:

Possible reasons and solutions:

  1. Incorrect wiring. Please double check that the pins are not swapped.

  2. Wrong number of motor pole pairs configured. Please go back to Motor → General and check that the correct number of motor pole pairs is entered. Note that the register asks for pole pairs and not total number of poles.

  3. Encoder configuration. Please check that the encoder register configuration is correct. Please use the advise here: Feedbacks.

  4. Drive firmware. Please make sure you are using the most up to date firmware. You can download it in the respective Downloads section of the selected drive here: Drives (novantamotion.com)
